Hanold Associates Launches Head of HR Search for Sportsman’s Warehouse

Sportsman’s Warehouse tapped Hanold Associates for their Head of Human Resources search. Jason Hanold, Keri Gavin and Omar Safi lead the search for the role based in the greater Salt Lake City area.

Sportsman’s Warehouse is a high-growth outdoor sporting goods retailer focused on meeting the everyday needs of the seasoned outdoor veteran, the first-time participant and every enthusiast in between. They serve outdoor enthusiasts, casual users and first-time participants with quality brand-name hunting, fishing, camping and shooting merchandise.

The company was founded in 1986 as a single retail store in Midvale, Utah, and now has the largest outdoor specialty store base in the Western United States and Alaska, operating 92 stores across 23 states. Sportsman’s Warehouse employs more than 5,100 people dispersed across their corporate offices, retail stores and distribution centers. Revenue for 2018 is expected to top $800M.

Sportsman’s Warehouse went public in April 2014. Seidler Equity Partners owns approximately 10% of the business and Chris Eastland, a partner at Seidler Equity Partners, is chairman of the board and a strong supporter of the business.

Reporting to President and CEO, Jon Barker, the Head of Human Resources (the senior-most HR leader within Sportsman’s Warehouse) will be a critical member of the company’s executive leadership team. They will be responsible for the people strategy and vision while driving enhanced levels of organizational structure, employee engagement and change management initiatives across the enterprise. This person will be accountable for leadership and development of the HR function and aligning the function’s focus and activities to support Sportsman’s Warehouse’s organizational priorities, strategies and ambitions. Leading a team of 17, this leader will design the HR structure and lead the overall function in all facets.
