Karlis Antons

Karlis is a Partner with Hanold Associates. Joining the firm in 2012, he brings with him years of research, search execution and internal talent acquisition experience spanning all functional groups, industry segments and global geographies.

Previously, Karlis served as a director and head of the research group in Cook Associates’ Chicago office. He executed senior-level search assignments across a diverse range of practice groups and geographies, with a particular emphasis in food & beverage and industrial markets as well as establishing the firm’s corporate governance practice while concurrently managing the research group.

Prior to his role with Cook Associates, Karlis served in various roles for DHR International, both domestically and on international expat assignments. In DHR’s Toronto office, he focused on building search execution capabilities in Canada while successfully completing search assignments rooted in the Canadian market.

Gaining experience building the company internationally, Karlis served as vice president of Talent Acquisition & Operations APAC based in the company’s Asia Pacific headquarter office in Hong Kong. In that rotational role, he was responsible for building the organizational capabilities throughout Asia, India, Australia and beyond through internal recruiting. He opened two new offices in six months—Beijing, China and Sydney, Australia—while managing the APAC research group. Before gaining experience in the Asia Pacific market, Karlis served as a senior associate in DHR’s Denver office. He launched his executive search career on the research side and has a strong foundation in search process. After university, Karlis was involved in a startup renewable energy company and worked at Vail Resorts.

Karlis earned his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Management from the University of Rhode Island, while playing four years of Division I, scholarship tennis for the university. He studied abroad at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. Karlis is a member of the Association of Talent Acquisition Professionals.

Karlis previously served as the chairman and president of the American Latvian Youth Association, founding board member to the Latvian Chamber of Commerce in the Americas, as well as board member to the Latvian Center Garezers.

Karlis spends his free time enjoying the outdoors, traveling, cooking and enjoying every moment with his wife and daughters.
